We need your vote.Keep care local.

Dr. Ian Butler is a critical care physician running for the Palomar Health Board to put patients, nurses, and North County communities at the center of every decision.

“When minutes matter, distance matters.”

Less than ten years ago, when I worked at Palomar Medical Center Poway, our community had a cardiac catheterization lab, a birth center, and other essential hospital services close to home. Many of those services have since been closed or consolidated in Escondido.

I’m running to work with patients, nurses, physicians, and staff on a responsible, sustainable plan to bring essential services back to Poway.

A CLINICIAN’S PRIORITIES

Four commitments to North County

Focused on what a public healthcare board can do: listen, govern responsibly, and make care more accessible.

01

Bring care closer to home

Strengthen Palomar Medical Center Poway and responsibly work to bring important services back to Poway—so families can get more of the care they need without traveling farther.

02

Back nurses and frontline teams

Treat nurses and every member of the care team as essential clinical partners, with a meaningful voice in staffing, working conditions, patient safety, and quality.

03

Make access a promise we keep

Healthcare should be accessible to every person—regardless of income, employment, or insurance status. Local leadership can make that principle real through practical decisions.

04

Lead with transparency

Make major decisions understandable, measure results, and keep the public informed about finances, partnerships, service changes, and the quality of care.

FIVE-MILE STEMI COVERAGE

Division 7 is a Cardiac Dead Zone

No 24/7 STEMI receiving center lies within five miles of Division 7.

When a heart attack requires emergency cardiac catheterization, distance matters. Palomar Health should restore critical cardiac services closer to the communities it serves.

What the map shows: Five-mile circles are straight-line distance—not drive time or EMS routing. County STEMI receiving centers are used as the public, verifiable proxy for 24/7 emergency cath-lab access.
